A study of Daniel and Revelation

The Time Is Near

Ian Foley, PhD — pastor, physicist, and student of prophecy — traces a single unbroken thread from Daniel's Babylon to John's Revelation, and asks what it means for the church today.

About the author

A scientist's path into prophecy

Two careers, one conviction: that Scripture rewards patient, exacting study.

Portrait of Ian Foley

Ian Foley, PhD

Ian Foley is the senior pastor of Hope Christian Church, Melbourne — a multi-site church of several hundred people belonging to Hope International Ministries. Before entering pastoral ministry, he built an academic career in physics and computer science, earning his doctorate at the University of Melbourne.

That training shows in his writing: The Time Is Near approaches the books of Daniel and Revelation the way a researcher approaches a long-unsolved problem — testing assumptions, following the text closely, and being willing to challenge interpretations that have gone unquestioned for generations. The result is a two-volume study that reads Daniel and Revelation as a single, connected prophecy spanning from the Jewish exile to the end of the age.
